It is difficult enough to meet
the physical requirements and obtain the necessary training to become a member of a forest firefighting crew.
Add to that the element of courage, sacrifice (time and energy) and exposure to danger that these local
firefighters might face when forest fires like the Hayman Fire and others spread like the angry wildfires they can be.
If that is not enough
... These brave individuals serve as volunteers!
From the bottom of our hearts, we want to give the Northeast
Teller County Fire Department a profound "thank you" for all of their hard work and dedication.
After the awful Hayman Fire in 2002, we have come to appreciate your service to our community even more!
Below are just a few pictures from a recent training session
that were generously provided by Scotty L., a crew member himself and resident of Woodland Park.
