Teller County Bike Ride (Woodland Park to Cripple Creek)

Teller County, ColoradoIn the summer of 2002, when I was first becoming interesting in bicycling, I partook in a long distance ride throughout Teller County from Woodland Park to Cripple Creek.

It was an unusually hot afternoon in late August, but I did my best to stay hydrated. Fortunately, the beautiful scenery of Colorado kept me motivated to continue on, as I had my digital camera with me and my ride was a good excuse to take pictures.

In the adjacent picture, I was somewhere just north of the General Store on County Road 1, pointing towards the valley that would take me through some major hills before reaching the edge of Mt. Pisgah and downtown Cripple Creek. It was definitely a fun but long ride! :p)

I have done other interesting bike rides in the area, including a roundtrip from Manitou Springs to the Ute Pass Divide, but this ride stands out as my most memorable one.

P.S. Oh! Special thanks to Don Bush who picked me up in Cripple Creek and drove me back to my car in Woodland Park! ;)

A Few Pictures Of Teller County ...
Pikes Peak I started bicycling in the parking lot of Woodland Park Christian Church and had a grand view of Pikes Peak's towering north face. Wow!
Teller County, Colorado Arriving in Divide, I had the choice of taking Highway 67 directly to Cripple Creek, or peddling to Florissant and taking Teller County Road 1. With Highway 67 being well-known for gnarly traffic and having many spots with little to no shoulder, I wisely opted to head to Florissant. ;)
Colorado Somewhere on Teller County Road 1, north of the General Store.
Teller County, Colorado The hills leading up to Mt. Pisgah are very beautiful. Great picture!
Cripple Creek, Colorado By the time I reached Cripple Creek, my creative energy to take interesting pictures was gone. Exhausted, I was so glad to reach good ol' Cripple Creek!
