The County Seat: Historic Cripple Creek, Colorado

ColoradoBeautiful and historic Cripple Creek! The county seat offers a lot more than just casino gambling, although many may visit this historic city for that very activity.

From Cripple Creek's rich western mining history, one can enjoy a "taste of the past" at attractions such as Cripple Creek Players Melodrama, the Cripple Creek & Victor Narrow Gauge Railroad and the Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine.

Quaint Victorian buildings line-up Bennett Avenue, the main thoroughfare in town and it's not uncommon to come across people (see photo below) dressed up to celebrate its Victorian past.

I have included a few more pictures of Cripple Creek (altitude 9,494 feet above sea level) for your enjoyment. If you're seeking to go on a scenic Teller County drive, need to do business in the county seat, or if you are feeling just kind of lucky and having some money burning in your pocket ... ;)
